I'm not only excited that we will be returning to television with an NWA branded program, but equally excited about the vast talent pool we have available. It is our goal to showcase as many talents from the United States and Canada, as well as continuing our relationships with the overseas NWA Members in Europe and Japan, the Luchadores from Mexico, and IWA in Puerto Rico."
From January 18 to April 2008, Las Vegas and the Plaza Hotel and Casino will play host to the monthly tapings. Joining the NWA on this venture is legendary Las Vegas Stage Producer John Stuart.
John Stuart stated: "I have been promoting spectaculars all of my adult life. We (John Stuart Productions, Inc.) are very good with creating brand awareness and building on existing brands. What I saw from the NWA during their stay at the Orleans Arena was nothing short of tremendous. It is my hope that this type of Americana will once again see the popularity it once enjoyed."

Sting, who'll be turning 49 in March, has re-signed with TNA for another year. He will be working a limited schedule in 2008. Basically, they'll put him out there when they actually need him, as opposed to having to find a role for him on every single show. He'll only do TV when it's leading up to a pay-per-view.
We haven't seen the last of Senshi in TNA. He is scheduled to work one more set of iMPACT! tapings next week. He will be in Orlando for the 1/7 and/or 1/8 tapings. He doesn't have a match on this Sunday's pay-per-view though.
Bob Ryder (who handles traveling for TNA, runs 1Wrestling.com and was the host of WCW's old Internet radio program "WCW Live!") was planning on releasing a wrestling book entitled How I Helped Kill Kayfabe, which was to have been published by ECW Press. Anyway, the book has been cancelled.

Scott Hall was booked to drop the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship on the weekend of December 14 to Biggie Size, a power wrestler similar to TNA's Hernandez. Hall asked Hector Melendez (who briefly did the LAX ring introductions when he worked for TNA) if the title match could be changed to a non-title street fight because he thought it was too early to be dropping the title to him. Due to his friendship with Kevin Nash, they thought he was playing games and told him he needed to drop the belt. Hall just stayed in his hotel room and no-showed the event. Hall's excuse when talking to WWC officials was that he was running late and that he'd be at the show. Of course, he never came. Hall ended up forfeiting the belt and Biggie Size won it in a deciding match on 12/15. Hall held the belt for approximately 6 months.
Lex Luger is currently staying at the Spinal Rehabilitation Center in Marietta, Georgia. He is still paralyzed in both arms and both legs, but has begun to get feeling back in all four extremities. The official diagnosis was that he suffered a spinal stroke. He collapsed in a hotel room on Friday, October 19 when he was in San Francisco for a wrestling convention. Luger spent several weeks at Stamford Hospital before he was flown back to Georgia.
The Rock's most successful film since The Scorpion King, The Game Plan, will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc on Tuesday, January 22. The Game Plan will be out on DVD in two formats - widescreen and full screen - along with the high-definition version. The movie did a total of $88,649,123 in domestic box office revenue through Christmas Day.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Bob Sapp is close to reaching a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Unfortunately for those interested in seeing Sapp on WWE television, the deal being talked about only involves appearances during Japan house show events in February.
WWE has lost some bankability with the Japanese audience—its presence no longer guarantees a sellout—and wants to bolster its cards with a proven Japanese draw.
Negotiations to bring Sapp to WWE on a full-time basis have not advanced.

Despite all the negative news surrounding him in recent months, Hulk Hogan has started receiving a bunch of non-wrestling offers due to his hosting gig for American Gladiators on NBC.
Ric Flair isn't scheduled to work any house shows between now and WrestleMania.
Though she's billed as being from Miami, ECW Diva Layla is now residing in Los Angeles, California. Her cross country move allows her to further her wrestling training, because as noted earlier, she's training at Jesse Hernandez's wrestling school in San Bernardino.
